We have news from the College! The Potter’s Club is going to be welcomed back as of Wednesday January 26, 2022 and will have access until June 15, 2022. Time is restricted to between 8:30 and 4:30 on Wednesdays and occasionally there will be interruptions as the Fine Arts program goes through its semester. As always, classes and students have priority access to the studio.

You must be a current member of the club to make use of the studio space. You can now pay online at

Known Dates:

  • Class Critiques for Gordon Hutchens: Feb 16-23 classwork will be on display but there should still space for us to do what we need to.
  • Studio tours Highschool groups or public from April 19 to April 28
  • April 14 to April 29 Gordon will have class work on display but there should still space for us to do what we need to.

Covid Protocols
We cannot exceed 16 people in the space at any time

  • ​Mask wearing is required at NIC (new updates and guideline will be coming on the NIC website in Jan 2022). Please make sure to bring your own masks.
  • ​Contract tracing will be in place with a SIGN IN sheet collecting names, dates, instructor
    name on a form. Instead of an instructor name please use my name. If there is a Covid case we will need to contact you so that you can contact the people that had signed in to use the space. Please have your members give you updated contact info.
  • No contact numbers go on the form. This is a new standard practice for all our studios.
  • The sign in form will be on a clip board near the studio door
  • There is to be no shared food or drink in the studios at this time (e.g., no coffee or snacks if we’re having a meeting). Having your own personal food or drink is ok.



Annual Studio Clearance Sale

Come join the Comox Valley Potter’s Club for our annual Clearance Sale! This is an opportunity for many of our members to clear out experiments, one offs, older inventory, and things that didn’t quite turn out the way we wanted. Many treasures to be found at good prices.
Come to the Driftwood Mall February 8th and 9th during mall hours and explore our ever changing stock–more will be put out throughout the sale, so you can check back to find new things!

Art Of The Fire – Mid Island Potters Annual Pottery Sale

Our mid island potter friends are having their sale this month Oct 28th please share and support.
A show and sale of a variety of pottery work. Each artist is set up and selling their own individual work. You will be amazed at the variety of glazes, styles and firing methods. Bring a friend and enter to win a select piece of pottery in our raffle.

Featured Potter Maeva Collins

Maeva CollinsPotter Maeva Collins lives in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island surrounded by the ocean, rivers, mountains and rain forest on a small acreage which allows her the freedom to pit fire and wood fire her creations.

Maeva specializes in unique burnished pit fired vessels with silky surfaces that beg to be touched. When creating her wood fired work, Maeva’s goal is to produce pieces that are unique and sophisticated in design with wonderful colour and texture when fired. In both cases she relies on the firing process to produce dramatic patterns that draw the viewer in.

Will you be selling your pieces at any markets or galleries this year?
The Potters Place Gallery & The Pot Shop on Hornby Island. All other galleries are out of the Comox Valley.

What do you enjoy about being a member of the Comox Valley Potters Club?
Sharing my love for creating ceramic art.

What would you say to someone considering purchasing your pottery as a gift for someone?
I would explain the firing process and let them know how much I enjoyed creating it.
