The Comox Valley Potters Club (CVPC) was formed more than 60 years ago. We began with informal meetings in members' homes to work on projects, share ideas and visit. These roots of friendly socializing established a philosophy which continues to be an important part of the club today. Over the years, the Potters Club has focused on learning their craft and developing a personal expression through workshops, fieldtrips and events.

In 1993 the club became a nonprofit society. The mission from the creating of the society is to encourage the development of new skills and provide outlets in the marketplace for member's work. In 1995, the Potters Club formed a partnership with NIC to share information and workshops with the students. In 2000, we gained weekly access to the studio and kilns at the college. For 25 years, the partnership was beneficial to the students, community, and both NIC and CVPC. In addition, the club also awarded bursaries to students in the Ceramics program and kid’s classes. During it’s time at NIC, the club sponsored workshops featuring internationally known and local potters from the US and Canada.

With the suspension of NIC’s Ceramic program in 2025, the club no longer has access to a permanent studio space and kilns. However, the club remains committed to offering a full program of educational and social opportunities including artists talks, demonstrations, workshops, social events, and 3 sales in addition to our annual charity fundraising sale. The club year operates on a September to September basis. Membership registration can be accessed here as of September 1st.
